Bug: Georgia country is wrong

What is the current behavior?

Searching for Tbilisi wanting Georgia (the country) returns the wrong country.

If the current behavior is a bug, please provide all the steps to reproduce and a minimal JSFiddle example or a repository on GitHub that we can npm install and npm start.

Returns wrong result of South Georgia Islands which are not associated with the country

What is the expected behavior?

Returns Georgia the country

Not sure if this means the OpenStreetMap data is out of date.

Hey @mirshko Thanks for reaching out, this is indeed a bug in our processing code for Geonames, where we wrongly attributed the GE country code to the South Sandwich Islands.

It should be fixed on our next data update.

Heya! So actually Places will be sunset soon so I recommend looking for another system for this. I’ve been using google places autocomplete and it works fine!

There’s a nice react hook library use-places-autocomplete that is good!
