See original GitHub issue

Description

On Ubuntu 20.04, brave updated this morning to Version 1.10.90 Chromium: 83.0.4103.97 (Official Build) (64-bit) Since then, it will not run for more than a few seconds.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open brave. Attempt any task, works as normal for up to a minute, then browser closes.

Actual result:

Browser just closes.

Run from command line for more info. Tried both normal and private (to eliminate extensions) with:

brave-browser
brave-browser -n --args --incognito

Result is same, crash within a minute, command line shows: /usr/bin/brave-browser: line 48: 7347 Segmentation fault “$HERE/brave” “$@”

Expected result:

Not crash.

Reproduces how often:

Consistent. Every time.

Brave version (brave://version info)

Version 1.10.90 Chromium: 83.0.4103.97 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Version/Channel Information:

I use current release. Sorry I have no bandwidth to test, will simply use Chrome instead.

Other Additional Information:

Rebooting doesn’t change problem.

Chrome is fine.

This is still a problem, happens persistently when using Youtube or Reddit.

Since these reports are very old and Brave generally works fine on that version of Ubuntu, I’m going to close this issue.

Please file a new issue with crash report IDs (brave://crashes/) if you experience crashes and we will investigate.
