Looking closely at Zenodo, I see that this is aimed for researchers who want to capture exactly a repo at a certain state. I will distribute information about Zenodo instead.

On our end, we will have to:

If you want to archive a repository that belongs to an organization on GitHub, you will need to make sure that the organization administrator has enabled third-party access to the Zenodo application.

Zenodo can only access your public repositories so make sure the repository you want to archive is public.

I think going forward, when we release a new version of programs, archiving and generating a doi would be great. I suspect this will greatly increase the number of citations for our programs. This in turn enables us to ask for money!
