See original GitHub issueGeneral information
- Operating system + version: debian bullseye
- Browser + version: firefox 86.0b3
- Information about the host app: not relevant
- Information about the browser extension: v3.7.2
Exact steps to reproduce the problem
-
go to github.com
-
do not select the username field (i.e. the text cursor should not be blinking inside the field)
-
press
shift+ctrl+l
, the corresponding browserpass entry shows up -
press Enter, the form is not autofilled
What should happen?
The form should autofill with the first record found
What happened instead?
The form does not autofill. If I manually click into the username field, then the autofill works by pressing the Enter key (step 4 above)
This behaviour started with Firefox 86.0b3 so I’m filing this bug to pinpoint the exact point in time when this started. I hope it’s an issue on their end and will magically disappear in one of the following betas.
Any idea?
I couldn’t find another issue similar to this so I don’t think it’s a regression. I hope you don’t mind if I keep this issue here for reference, I will update and close it if the behaviour disappears.

OK, that does sound like some sort of issue with Firefox. Let’s keep an eye on it for now, and investigate in more depth if it shows up in a production release (unless someone feels like debugging in beta versions of Firefox).
Thanks for noticing, and logging this issue 😃.
I’m on Firefox nightly 87.0b2 (debian). And I’m using Wayland (without Xwayland) which could be an important detail I had omitted.
However you gave me a couple interesting keywords to search for issue on the Firefox bugtracker. I think this one could be related (though I’m unclear if it’s a bug)
