v2 package format on conda-forge (.conda)
See original GitHub issueNot entirely sure where to file this issue (and not seeing much activity on the conda-forge google group), so filing it here - let me know if there’s a better place for this.
Original message:
Having read https://www.anaconda.com/how-we-made-conda-faster-4-7/ with a lot of excitement, it seems like the new v2 package format drives a significant improvement in package download and extraction times and I saw noticeable improvement in anacondamain and anacondar.
Is there any guidance on whether the conda-forge
channel will start having v2 format packages? Is there a timetable or any blockers?

The currently version of Anaconda.org does not support uploading .conda files. There are plans to update Anaconda.org to a newer backend that supports .conda files. There is no hard timeline on this transition but 3-12 months is a estimate.
Thanks for the update!
