signing on ledger nano s hangs during "Select USB Wallet"

Trying to sign a pending transaction, I get stuck at the

Select USB Wallet
undefined 
 Detecting...

window. Ledger is unlocked and in Bitcoin app (latest firmware and app). Interestingly, in the terminal, specter keeps saying:

OK, I can confirm the issue is fixed in version 0.5.1. Thank you for the quick help.

For future reference: upgrading Ubuntu from 18.04 to 19.10/20.04 fixed the pip3 segfault problem during update.

@stefanwouldgo just a heads up that this issue should now be fixed with the latest version of Specter. Could you please upgrade the version and try again?

Thanks, I had seen the update. Unfortunately I still get a segmentation fault from pip3 when trying to upgrade. This appears to be some problem with python3-pip under ubuntu. I’ll let you know when I have managed to update.
