According to the release note cuTENSOR 1.3 is binary incompatible with 1.2.x, so I suppose this support cannot be backported to v9?

I think we can both support cuTENSOR v1.3 and pre-v1.3 in v10/v9 even though there is a binary incompatibility. I’m planning to ship CuPy v9.1/v10.0.0a1 wheels with cuTENSOR 1.3. conda-forge packages may need to pin a cutensor package version to the one used to build CuPy.
