DevTools not starting with error "DevTools URL not available"

Describe the bug When I try to open devtools (either from command menu or by clicking the devtools icon-button), I get a popup saying “DevTools URL not available”. This might be related to asdf or old version of Flutter. As far as I remember, devtools work fine on the latest version of Flutter with asdf.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Run the app without debugging.
  2. Click on the “Open DevTools widget inspector page” (near debugging options).
  3. See a popup stating “DevTools URL not available”.

Expected behavior DevTools open successfully.

Can you try setting the dart.devToolsLogFile setting in your VS Code settings to a path for logging, eg.:

"dart.devToolsLogFile": "C:\\devtools.txt"

Then restart VS Code, open a Flutter project and (without starting debugging), just click DevTools in the status bar and see if it opens. If not, please check the log file for any errors or useful messages.
