Can't login

Describe the bug

Just to start off I did mange to login in the end, but I have reinstalled windows (for a different reason) and the bug is still there, I just found a workaround. After pressing login, it asks what my nick name and email to use for committing is, here I can’t hit confirm unless I delete everything both boxes. Just checked and even though I deleted the boxes the last one I tried to hit confirm on did actually get used.

Version 2.2.4 Windows 10

Steps to reproduce the behavior

Expected behavior

Options will get used and the program will finish setting up.

Actual behavior

Options get used, but I don’t go to the main men.

I believe this is the same issue as https://github.com/desktop/desktop/issues/8657 (see also https://github.com/desktop/desktop/issues/8675).

@Spodeian can you check to see if there is a .gitconfig.lock file present in C:\Users\User\? If there is, try deleting that to see if it gets things working.

Just so it’s clear I only installed git bash after github desktop, in order to run those commands.
