1. Go to “Window”
2. Click on ‘Github desktop’
3. Github desktop run
4. See error popup

Seems like this happened in the past #5247

There are some suggestions there like:

• Checking if there is anything in your PATH that could point to a different git
• Reinstalling git for Windows and restarting your computer
• Make sure the git for Windows signature is trusted

In any case, it seems this issue is something beyond’s Desktop control, sorry 😞 Desktop ships with its own version of git and git-lfs and should be compatible, so there must be something else in your setup messing with this 😕

I get the same error in all applications. I tried to find a way to solve the problem on the web, but most of them came out 4 years ago, and it seems that the content is different from what it is now.

I’ve been seeing this recently as well, and I have 2.36.1.windows.1 git was installed on my machine.
