Showing "fatal: remote error: CAPTCHA required" error
See original GitHub issueThe problem
Hi Team, Recently I have changed the password and now I am unable to use git. I am using github desktop client and log out from git and login again using the browser. While trying to login it doesn’t ask me to solve CAPTCHA. The below is the error I am getting. Kindly help.
_fatal: remote error: CAPTCHA required Your Bitbucket account has been locked. To unlock it and log in again you must solve a CAPTCHA. This is typically caused by too many attempts to login with an incorrect password. The account lock prevents your SCM client from accessing Bitbucket and its mirrors until it is solved, even if you enter your password correctly.
If you are currently logged in to Bitbucket via a browser you may need to logout and then log back in in order to solve the CAPTCHA._
Thanks

@i30044 I can’t tell if OKTA auth can be related 😢
“Personal access tokens will NOT trigger captcha even with a repeated auth failures.” from Bitbucket Server Knowledge Base
You can try “How can I clear CAPTCHA for a specific user?” (requires sys admin access) from the knowledge base to see if it helps.
