This appears to be related to the file sdk-check-config.json being missing. (as best as I can tell anyway) https://github.com/dotnet/sdk/blob/94a764cd6376cd72ba7d23259b721f18d7cd814b/src/Cli/dotnet/commands/dotnet-sdk/check/Program.cs#L33

I imported the NativeWrapper into PowerShell and used the where.exe utility to try to locate the file as well. (I ran several other wildcard searches to be thorough, same results) :

➜ win-x64 git:(develop) $dotnetpath = [Microsoft.DotNet.NativeWrapper.EnvironmentProvider]::GetDotnetExeDirectory()
➜ win-x64 git:(develop) $dotnetpath
C:\Program Files\dotnet
➜ win-x64 git:(develop) where.exe /R $dotnetpath sdk-check-config.json
INFO: Could not find files for the given pattern(s).

I believe the change has taken effect now. I can no longer reproduce locally. Can any of you in this thread verify please?
