Steps to reproduce

I am trying install DotNet CLI for Windows x64 v1.0.0.001598 and get a error "You have installed ‘nightly’ build of DotNet CLI. It cannot be upgraded to a ‘Release’ build of Dotnet CLI. Please uninstall it and re-use setup

I uninstall olders DotNet CLI

Seems to me that this issue is resolved. Will close. If you are still encountering this behavior with the newest bits, please reopen.

@blackdwarf in fact, my scenario is slightly different:

1. installed 1598 – successfully
2. dotnet restore failing, so uninstalled 1598 again
3. tried installing latest version, which currently is 2202

What I can see is a C:\Program Files\dotnet\runtime\coreclr with assemblies versioned 4.6.23704.0

🙈 …and an entry in my Control Panel stating there’s a dev version installed; don’t know why it doesn’t show up in the new Win 10 overview. After uninstalling this one, I was able to install 2202.
