Ligatures broken after update

Platform: Windows 10
Font: Fira Code
Plugin: SSH
Frontend: xterm
Terminus outputs weird gaps when rendering git tags and paths. Closing and restarting all tmux sessions had no effect. Disabling ligatures resolved the issue.
Please note that the issue does not reproduce using hterm and enabling ligatures.

Ligatures only work with hterm for me (see screenshot - xterm on the left, hterm on the right).
Terminus 1.0.88 Windows 10 1903 build 18950 (fast ring) Fira Code
Win 10 here. Similar problem. No combination of fonts with ligatures work with xterm (or xterm-webgl, indicated above as not implemented).
Fonts with ligatures only appear to work for me with hterm which is by no means a deal breaker for me.
