See original GitHub issueI find it misleading that the command to install both the stable version and the pre-release is the same:
pip install -U jupyter-book

we just generally recommend that people install the latest version of Jupyter Book that’s on PyPI (because this is what the documentation reflects, until we can get readthedocs support working to version our docs)
