Unknown image format

When I try to add PNG after a JPEG file on the same page a get this error : unknown image format. And when I remove the PNG file I get the same error message …
This is a strange behaviour because in this page I’m adding 4 to 7 PNG files after the JPEG file.
How can I resolve this issue ? Use only JPEG files ?
