Are --uid and --id *actually* deprecated?

and --id
are deprecated.
I use this feature a lot. To me, it basically makes everything possible.
Why are they both marked as deprecated? Was it a mistake? (Meaning, did you mean to mark one of them as deprecated?)
Please let us know. A lot of people are wondering
