HACS installs successfully via the integrations but never appears in the left navigation. Logs posted below.

Came here for the same problem. Removing custom_components/custom_updater.py did the trick.

This could also be due to GitHub APIs rate limit. Solution: Wait for an hour, see if HACS is still in startup mode. (Currently says “HACS is setting up” in the HACS tab, under ‘Information’)
