Can we rename the development branch to main?
See original GitHub issueHi Marco,
Some of the projects refer code from this repo.
Is it possible to change the branch name to something
that you prefer? (perhaps main
!)
Thanks a lot and Regards, Janardhan

Maybe I’ll consider renaming the branch when people receive their diploma saying “Main Of Science” instead of “Master Of Science” 😉
But seriously, I think that renaming the branch does not have any tangible positive effect, but is more likely to have negative technical effects (builds and scripts being broken etc), so it doesn’t seem to be worth the effort right now.
That sounds pretty offensive. But I won’t urge the Git developers to change that name. And I won’t rename the branch.
