Creality LD-002H : first print completed, working
See original GitHub issueCompleted thru the first print, no errors or issues so far with the exception of a few instances of The printer returned an unexpected response: ''
as reported in #180 .
Creality LD-002H v4.3.16_LCDKE / F2.21 Motheboard has a V3.2 print close the STM32 MCU
Install was fairly easy, from the side panel on the left:
- serial port pins exposed (in the picture below, between the WiFi header pin and the USB port)
- USB port on the board has an extension cable to relocate the external connector on the left side instead of behind: the cable can be removed (a bit of glue on it) so that no cable needs to run outside of the enclosure
Question:
- power I used the +5V pin in the serial connector and a GND pin nearby: raspberry pi does not complain do you know if this is too much load on the board?
Board with serial header and USB (to be validated) header
The actual motherboard has more connectors than displayed in the manual

That’s great! Thanks for reporting with such thorough pictures. I’ll update the documentation to flag this printer as a supported model.
No idea how much power the printer board can provide (and it may vary by printer model too?) nor how much power the Pi would need, so it’s hard to say. Other people definitely have had success on this too, so you’re definitely not alone.
If you want to, feel free to put up a pull request to update the install instructions to cover this possibility or anything specific to Creality printers.
@renatobo, @luizribeiro thanks for the responses! you guys are totally right, the setup as is worked from the first try and no config adjustment was needed, i guess just that it says the wrong printer name confused me. ^_^
@BalintBernhardt me and @luizribeiro connected the pi power to the 5v next to the tx, rx pins, the pi will also power with an otg cable from either of its usb ports, unfortunately i think creality power switch turns off its internal 5v supply so you wont be able to source power for the pi from within with the printer switched off. pi powering the printer might be solved by like suggested cutting the 5v line on the usb cable or using diodes. hope this helps, cheers 😃
