Articles with <> in title do not render properly in search engine results

It might be helpful to look at what HTML.com is doing because their tags seem to render correctly.
DuckDuckGo results for <title>
Their title is written
<title><title> HTML Tag »</title>
The chevron appears to render in Google though.

However, Google still omits it (unless the colon is preceded by a whitespace, like in the French locale):
