Failed to mock after upgrading Mockito to version v3.4.x or higher

Upgrading Mockito to version v3.4.x or higher break the test.

private val stripe = Mockito.mock(Stripe::class.java)

I mock a Stripe SDK class (https://github.com/stripe/stripe-android) in my test. On Mockito v3.4.x or higher the mock is failed.

I am interested to know what changes from 3.3.x to 3.4.x that causing this

I reconstructed the problem, the issue is that the method getAdvancedFraudSignalsEnabled pushes two values onto the stack but only pops one return value off. This byte code cannot be created by javac and is technically incorrect while the JVM forgives the excess value:

Fixed on master of Byte Buddy, will be fixed in the next release and then updated upstream.
