Failed to mock after upgrading Mockito to version v3.4.x or higher
See original GitHub issueUpgrading Mockito to version v3.4.x or higher break the test.
private val stripe = Mockito.mock(Stripe::class.java)
I mock a Stripe SDK class (https://github.com/stripe/stripe-android) in my test. On Mockito v3.4.x or higher the mock is failed.
org.mockito.exceptions.base.MockitoException:
Mockito cannot mock this class: class com.stripe.android.Stripe.
Can not mock final classes with the following settings :
- explicit serialization (e.g. withSettings().serializable())
- extra interfaces (e.g. withSettings().extraInterfaces(...))
You are seeing this disclaimer because Mockito is configured to create inlined mocks.
You can learn about inline mocks and their limitations under item #39 of the Mockito class javadoc.

I reconstructed the problem, the issue is that the method
getAdvancedFraudSignalsEnabled
pushes two values onto the stack but only pops one return value off. This byte code cannot be created by javac and is technically incorrect while the JVM forgives the excess value:I need to see why this distracts the byte code enhancer but it is certainly fixable.
Fixed on master of Byte Buddy, will be fixed in the next release and then updated upstream.
