[onkyo] TX-NR636 discovered as unsupported receiver

See original GitHub issue

after installing this binding, my TX-NR636 is discovered as a new but unknown thing in OpenHAB, under things, i find:

`TX-NR636

Unsupported Onkyo AV Receiver

Network enabled Onkyo AV Receivers for models that are not officially supported. You may experience some odd behaviors.`

In the binding documentation https://docs.openhab.org/addons/bindings/onkyo/readme.html the 636 is listed as a supported device. Things and items work pretty well, i also could use all the items from above readme.html using them on a sitemap by just modifing the ip to my receivers ip. The controls in PaperUI work as well (good job by the way, thank you very much!)

When i look into Paper UI:bindings, the 636 is missing there, too.

best regards, Timm

Your Environment

OpenHAB version 2.2.0, using Windows 7 x64 and also Raspberry PI

@Pockenfresse okay I’ve done this. You will need to do the following:

  • Remove your already added Onkyo Thing, if it’s still there from Paper UI Configuration > Thing > Trash Icon
  • Remove the Onkyo Binding that comes with openHAB from Paper UI Add-ons > Bindings > Remove Button
  • Install this binding into the add-ons folder: https://www.dropbox.com/s/crwe411ukjdk1gn/org.openhab.binding.onkyo-2.5.0-SNAPSHOT-txnr636.jar?dl=0
  • Give it a minute or two for openHAB to pick up the new binding and install it
  • Do another scan from Paper UI Inbox > Refresh Button

This should show up as your receiver model and you should also see channels to control Zone 2. Please let me know asap if this works for you, as I’ll get it put into openHAB for it’s next release.

Hi Cossey, so the receiver appeared successfully in the inbox and I created a thing by clicking it. In the control section everything was shown to me and I could use all functions. Both zones were visible and fully operable. That’s how I had imagined it. Thanks again for your effort.
