Apply onBackpressureDrop() after timer()
You don’t need subscribeOn() since Observable.timer() will run on Schedulers.computation() by default and you’re not overriding it via subscribeOn().

You applied the onBackpressureDrop at the wrong location. You should apply it just after interval.
