Tampered token causes an OAuth2 exception to be thrown and that breaks the reactive chain

We have a reactive application and when we send in a tampered token (gibberish added at the end of the token) an OAuth2AuthenticationException is thrown which causes the chain to break and we cannot access the principal from the request. We would like to get the principal so that it can be in the audit log message that we create.
