tModLoader MIT License Approval Thread

See original GitHub issue

In planning for the future of tML, we (the tModLoader team) have found the GPL license too restrictive (this is not an uncommon complaint). tModLoader will be moving to the MIT License which you can read about at https://tldrlegal.com/license/mit-license. Currently, each contributor legally owns the contributions they make to tML, and only the owner can permit re-licensing code they have committed. As such, we require written consent from everyone who has contributed to tML in order to use their code under the new license going forward.

If you wish to relicense your code under MIT to support the ongoing development of tML, please post the following:

Terraria is a proprietary video game developed and published by Re-Logic. A group of “core contributors” (the “Team”) and others have developed a modification of Terraria commonly known as “tModLoader” (The “Mod”). The Mod is available on <github link> (“Github”) under the GPL Afero License. I, <name> have made contributions to the Mod on Github, which contributions are listed on attached Exhibit A (the “Contributions”).
The Team desires to offer the Mod, which may include the Contributions, on a non-Github site under the MIT License. By this agreement, I authorize the Team to use the Contributions in whole or in part in connection with the license of the Mod under the MIT license on a non-Github site.

I certify to the Team that:
1. The Contributions are all of the contributions made to the Mod under this Github account.
2. All of my Contributions were made available on Github and in no other location or platform.
3. The Contributions
 a. were created in whole or in part by me and I have the legal right to authorize the Team to use the Contributions as set forth in this Agreement; or
 b. to the extent the Contributions were not wholly my own, I have the legal right to authorize the Team to use the Contributions as set forth in this Agreement; or
 c. the Contribution was provided directly to me by some other person who certified (a), (b) or (c) and I have not modified
4. I provide proof of identity and ownership through this Github account

I understand that the Contributions and any information revealed by the Contributions may be maintained, modified, and distributed indefinitely by the Team or their representatives or assigns.

I agree to indemnify the Team and their collaborators and hold them harmless from all threatened or actual claims, litigation, damages, liabilities, and costs of any kind whatsoever, including attorneys’ fees, costs and expenses, arising out of, resulting from, or in any way connected with, a finding that the certifications in this Agreement are not valid and any claim or allegation that the Contributions infringe any Intellectual Property Rights of a third party.

I’m sorry extremely I didn’t notice this. I’ve been busy at work lately.
