Current implementation exhausts node.js memory when generating large amount of hexagon (e.g. 0.5km grid). Even with --max_old_space_size option it is unrealistic to keep everything within memory. Please consider the node.js stream API so that the generated grids can be processed one after another.

Love this idea. As noted by @rowanwins, this would be inconsistent with some of the core design decisions that make Turf easy to use, but an external module would be excellent. Closing here, so discussion can be moved to the hexgrid repo.
