- Where are you starting? What can you see?
If I try to search messages in a non group chat, I get Message search initialisation failed, check your settings for more information
.
If I click the settings, I can see: Message search initialisation failed
. If I click the drop down I see Error opening the database: DatabaseUnlockError("Invalid passphrase")
.
I have no idea what passphrase this is. When I launch element, I am prompted for a password, which I type in and everything launches ok. I dont understand what passphrase this is that it is missing.

Ah, I dont have the infinite loading spinner so figured it was a different problem. Deleting ~/.config/Element/EventStore seems to have resolved the problem though!
Hah so I just tried this, and it seems the problem is back again. Exactly the same error message (“Invalid passphrase”). I tried to delete the folder again (rm -rf ~/.config/Element/EventStore). The only side affects were that element was unsearchable for a few minutes until it re-indexed the rooms. After that, all working fine again, no issues/side effects at all, as far as i can see.
