Ligature support is spotty with MonoLisa

  • OS version and name: macOS version: 10.15.7
  • Hyper.app version: Hyper 3.1.2 (stable)
  • Link of a Gist with the contents of your .hyper.js: https://gist.github.com/tbremer/e87a79d4571f43119981b937fd444c01
  • Relevant information from devtools (CMD+ALT+I on macOS, CTRL+SHIFT+I elsewhere): n/a
  • The issue is reproducible in vanilla Hyper.app: Is Vanilla

Issue

Ligature support with the font MonoLisa appears limited in some capacity. Attached are three screen grabs, MonoLisa in Hyper, Fira Code in Hyper, and MonoLisa within Google Chrome rendering to a Canvas and the DOM.

Using MonoLisa within Hyper most ligatures do not work, however, [|, {|, and #? appear as expected. The same is not true if you render the same subset of ligatures to a Canvas element within Chrome itself.

I have opened an issue with MonoLisa as well, but I don’t think this is necessarily an issue with the font itself.

Link to Codepen where you can see MonoLisa working correctly, however, this assume MonoLisa is installed on your system.

Oh, I hadn’t realised they were disabled by default! Thank you.

All I’ve done is enable ligatures by setting disableLigatures to false.
