Checkbox to toggle "noindex" for pages
See original GitHub issueIt would be good to have a “set noindex meta” flag, to be able to disable indexing of single pages easily.
Similar to the “show in menu” toggle, and simply inserts
<meta name="robots" content="noindex" />
It would fits the “promote” tab, somehow, as an “anti promotion”.
I am aware that this is not a “security” feature; but sometimes some minor page just shouldn’t be indexed even though public.

The same applies to e.g. the existing
search_description
andseo_title
fields. They also rely on compatible templates to work.Shouldn’t the default template use
search_description
? I would have expected something like<meta name="description" content="{{ self.search_description|striptags|escape }}" />
Most likely, also the “show in menus” is similar, isn’t it?
P.S. for anybody considering
noindex
- I simply use {% if “noindex” in self.search_description %}in the template (i.e. type
noindex` in the description); as you won’t need a description and noindex at the same time.@mikemonteith That sounds like a good plan, yep! I think that if we were to add a feature like that at this point, though, we’d need to make sure there’s a clean way to disable it, so that it doesn’t get in the way of people who’ve already implemented the equivalent functionality on their sites.
