what about using atom? I use it ( combined with platformio ) for microcontroller development, and it works well. It has a package management system, so it would be easily to let people install cq once they have atom.
another alternative along the same lines ( and even a little nicer ) is vscode.
@fragmuffin You have been added as a collaborator. I was learning three.js and Electron while I was developing that project, so hopefully the high CPU utilization is due to a simple bug. Even running at idle with no 3D object displayed the app runs all of the cores on my I7 laptop at about 50%. I took another look through the 3D viewer code and didn’t see anything obvious, but I never learned three.js in-depth and it’s been 2 years. If I remember right that viewer code was borrowed from the ParametricParts.com codebase, but was modified quite a bit to make it work for the app. If we can get the CPU issue figured out, I’d like to develop a set of stress tests to see how far we can push the tech.
Glad you’re enjoying it. I think there’s a group of us that would love to be able to devote more time to developing (and using) CadQuery. This year will be my 4th as a CadQuery contributor, and I still enjoy it a lot.
