co-author profile pic replaced with default profile pic

See original GitHub issue

Description

Version

  • GitHub Desktop: Version 1.2.6
  • Operating system: Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.17134.165]

Steps to Reproduce

  1. I opened GitHub desktop with changes to a repository already made
  2. The repository is already my current repository in GitHub Desktop, so I proceed to type in a commit summary and description
  3. I added another GitHub user as a co-author
  4. I opened the “History” tab

Expected Behavior

I expected to see my profile picture next to the user I co-authored profile picture on my commit.

Actual Behavior

I saw my profile picture next to a default GitHub profile picture (the user I added as a co-author does not use a default profile picture. When I went to the GitHub site, I saw that the commit had his real profile picture, but it still was the default profile picture inside of GitHub desktop.

Additional Information

I don’t know if this is a bug, and if it is, it is a very minor one.

Thanks for taking the time to open an issue! 🙇

A couple of questions:

  1. Did the user you added as a co-author make any contributions to the repository before you attributed a commit to them?
  2. Is their profile picture still missing after switching to a different repository then switching back?

I tested this out a couple of times and was unable to reproduce the issue. As we haven’t had any other reports of this in 4 years I’m going to close this out, but we can reopen if it comes up again.
