"Sign in using your browser" does not work with Firefox on Windows
See original GitHub issueWhen choosing to “Sign in using your browser” in GitHub Desktop 1.6.2 on Windows 7 Pro where the default browser is Firefox 64.0.2 (64-bit), I get to a https://github.com/login/oauth/authorize?client_id=...
URL and get a “Launch Application” popup that asks me to select an application for x-github-client
links. Selecting GitHubDesktop.exe
does not work. Pasting the same https://github.com/login/oauth/authorize?client_id=...
URL into Chrome does work correctly. When logging into Github Enterprise, it’s the same issue.

It may be your browser issue… I had chrome selected and it wouldn’t open. I went and changed my default browser to edge, then it worked
For reference, we had an earlier discussion about this behaviour with Firefox in #5792 and this comment pointed out some known Firefox bugs that might be involved: https://github.com/desktop/desktop/issues/5792#issuecomment-427744894
It was suggested that a reinstall of Desktop might address the issue, but I’m not sure if that worked for the initial reporter.
