Show profile meta data in window title to improve findability/awesomebar
See original GitHub issueAs a user I want to have some meta data in the window name to make finding a profile easier.
Current search result show the issue:
Goals
- Improve searchability of tabs/titles
- Quickly identify the age of profile / nightly version
Solution
The latest strawperson proposal (we can move the information bits around later when we got feedback).
Firefox 59.0.2a - Intel Mac OS X 10.13 - 2018-03-29 16:02 (public) - perf.html
.
For the #929 this title would result in:
Firefox 59.0.2a Intel Mac OS X 10.13 2018-03-29 16:02
(formatting tbd, the mockup had some ideas on spacing and de-emphasizing parts)
Follow up work to be filed as polish bugs:
* Investigate shortening of OS identifiers (_Intel Mac OS X 10.13_ -> _macOS (10.13)_)
Initial idea for reference
Strawperson for naming:
perf.html - [product] [version] [os] - [datetime] ([datasource])
Example:
perf.html - Firefox 59.0.2 - Intel Mac OS X 10.13 - 2018-03-29 16:02:21 (public)
Moving perf.html
to the back, as I usually prefer having the meaningful part of a title first. The other iteration might be a short format for the browser/os, like Firefox/59.0.2/MacOS
.

I’d rather keep
YYYY-MM-DD
. 2 characters don’t make such a difference here.
