Show total amount in the center of donut chart

Current behavior Donut charts are just pie charts with a hole in the middle
Expected behavior The hole in the middle of the pie chart should display the sum of values
What is the motivation / use case for changing the behavior? We have not enough horizontal space for an advanced pie chart and want the user to be able to tell how many entries are present without having to hover over the segments and counting them.
