Support some markdown in text input
See original GitHub issueSo, I thought I would bring this to the group to see what people think. The idea would be that certain things would turn automatically into the formatted messages, so that users don’t have to type ctrl+b etc.
So:
- *test* would go to test
- **test** would go to test
- ~test~ would go to ~test~
- `test` would go to
test
I’m obviously not suggesting links and similar stuff, it would only be things that have an equivelant in irc.
Thoughts?

Count me in for this, plugin or core, it’ll be hugely useful for a lot of users. I moved from IRCCloud to TheLounge and I really miss this feature.
I’m not so sure about this. It’s something which will be shown in TheLounge and maybe a few other clients, but it’s not universal. Think we should keep it to the standards for IRC as much as possible.
