Lightrun Product Updates : H1 2024

Throughout the first half of 2024, Lightrun has focused on developing a range of solutions and improvements aimed at enhancing developer observability and live debugging. These advancements help organizations significantly reduce their MTTR for complex issues while boosting developer productivity.

📢 NEW! Lightrun LogOptimizer User Experience Enhancements

Lightrun LogOptimizer enables developers to scan their source code for inefficient and redundant static log statements. By using LogOptimizer, engineering teams can significantly reduce logging costs and maintain cleaner source code. The recent update enhances functionality by allowing developers to aggregate and filter results by their source path, and directly navigate to problematic log statements from the scan results. Additionally, developers can now delete logs directly from the LogOptimizer tab within the Lightrun IDE plugin, streamlining the log management process.

📢 NEW! Lightrun PII Redaction Enhancements

Lightrun has extended the support for PII redaction focusing on the following capabilities:

• Handling complex and nested objects 
• Logging data formatting across runtime agents (Node, Java, Python)
• Enhanced support for rendering of Maps and Arrays
• Unified and streamlined display of primitive wrapper objects

These enhancements were implemented to ensure comprehensive privacy protection within complex data structures as well as simplifying the use of PII redaction within the platform. Lightrun PII Redaction helps bolster compliance efforts and minimizes the risk of data breaches.

📢 NEW! Lightrun User Provisioning and Authentication

As part of our Lightrun’s ongoing commitment to improving developers’ experience with the Management Portal webUI, we’ve revamped the Settings section to offer a smoother and simplified user experience with a single login method to the platform. Introducing the new Identity and Access Management tab, which now includes Users, Agent Pools, Permissions & Access and the new Identity Configuration page. Additionally, to simplify login management, we’ve centralized SSO, SCIM, and Self Service settings under the revamped Identity Configuration page. 

📢 NEW! Enhanced Runtime Languages Support

Lightrun continues to follow the advancements in the market and ensures on time support for the latest runtime languages. In the recent releases, Lightrun added support to its agents for the following language versions: Java (JDK) 21, Python 3.11, and .NET for M1/M2 Silicon.

📢 Lightrun Integration with SIEM Systems

Lihgtrun introduced its new integration with SIEM systems that allows customers to monitor and enforce policies across user actions in the Lightrun platform. With the new solution, customers can seamlessly stream Lightrun audit events like the addition or removal of a user from the system, login activities, and more to their SIEM systems such as Splunk and others. The events are streamed in a standard JSON format.
